Personality: When first meeting Aloy, she can seem rude, awkward, or even aloof. This is due to her upbringing as an outcast of the Nora, a people that shunned contact with anybody outside the bounds of their Sacred Land. An orphaned foundling in a matriarchal society that worships a goddess they call "All-Mother", Aloy was a misfit from the start. For the first nineteen years of her life, her only companion was Rost, a fellow outcast. He raised her in near-total isolation which resulted in many things. One of the less fortunate results being somewhat stunted social skills.

Traveling outside the Sacred Lands has brought her into contact with a great many people. She's still learning how to approach new people with a little more tact, and also to reserve judgment until she can determine what of their behavior is a cultural norm for them, and what is their own personal quirks.

She is a hunter. She thinks, acts, moves like a hunter. She is quiet, and tends to leave very little evidence that she has been in a place (aside from the occasional pile of dead bodies). She rarely approaches problems head-on, guns blazing. Instead, she observes her goal until she is satisfied that she has enough information to formulate a plan of attack. The plan rarely survives the initial encounter with the enemy, of course. So she's also very good at improvising, and knowing when to retreat in order to survive and make another attempt.

Other than her adoptive father, every authority figure Aloy ever knew for most of her life was female. The central figure of the dominant faith was female. When she finally discovered the secret of her conception and birth, what she found was that she is the clone of a brilliant scientist who managed to save humanity from annihilation at the hands of malevolent A.I. It's not that Aloy has no use for men, it's just that her concept of gender roles is significantly different than most. Compared to other women, she tends to be more confident, more forthright, and less tolerant of those who would try to have her behave in a way they deem proper.

She has a temper. She gets angry at hypocrisy, cowardice, greed. She's young, and recently saved the world from war machines powered by malevolent A.I., and thus has all the answers. (By this I mean she's arrogant.) When she has a goal, she pursues it tirelessly. Her path may be circuitous, but she is always moving toward accomplishing that goal. Because of this, she lets her personal relationships languish. She is often lonely, but as loneliness has been her constant companion her whole life, she doesn't recognize it as a pain that can be lifted anymore.

Despite this, she does truly love people. She is fascinated by their differences, their strengths and weaknesses. The different ways they talk and relate to each other. The ways they find to express their creativity in clothing or performance or art. The way they can band together to accomplish incredible things. She also has a powerful curiosity, not just about people, but about how the world works. She wants to learn everything there is to know about everything so she can share it with others.
